Master of the Throne Celebration 5-16-09

Because Van did so well with potty-training, I decided to have a fancy breakfast, in honor of him. I served them scrambled eggs, french toast, and strawberries & blueberries with whipped cream, all by candlelight. Their favorite part was eating on our China. Van felt very special and we were so proud of him for doing so well on the potty!

Conversations with my kids

10-25-09; I asked Van how long he was going to suck his thumb (until what age?). He looked at me with all seriousness and said, "Until I die."
9-3-09; Clive had a really bad sounding cough the other day. After coughing for about twenty seconds straight, Clive said, "Maybe I smoked a cigarette!"
12-08; I asked Van if daddy had given him milk with his breakfast (b/c we were restricting lactose) and he said, "No daddy gave me toast". I said, "Ok, that's fine." Then, Clive, in all seriousness said, "No, mom, it's not ok...lac-toast!"
11-10-08; Van really enjoys finding words that rhyme or sound alike. When he thinks he's got one he tells us and then says, "That rhymes!!!" in a really cute voice. The other day Matt mentioned the name Jennifer for some reason. Van chimed in and said, "Jennifer, and Jennifer Conference"..."That ryhmes!!!!"
10-13-08; Clive-"Mom, do you know how Nephi got the plates from Laban? He chopped his head up because Laban was hiding the plates in his head and Nephi needed to get them out!"
10-7-08; As Clive was eating an apple today, he said, "Mmmmm, Mom, you make gooooood apples!"
-I was talking to Clive and Van the other day about our presidential candidates. I told them that our next president was either going to be Barack Obama or John McCain. Then, Van chimed in from his carseat and said, "Or President Monson!"
-As we were watching Dean sleep today, Clive whispered so sweetly, "He looks like baby Jesus."
-After kissing Dean goodnight tonight, I heard Clive whispering something to himself. I asked him what he was saying and he said, "Yours is the cutest baby in the whole world." I thought that was so sweet.
-When we say our morning prayers, Clive will always "bless daddy to be safe on the roads." Well, a few days ago, Van "blessed daddy to sleep good on the roads." We were all laughing.
Matt-"Clive, who do you think baby Dean looks like?" Clive-"I think he looks like a beach ball" (he had his hospital hat on, so that must have been why)
Clive-"Mommy, my cars are hungry too!" Me-"What do cars eat?" Clive-"They eat dog food."
Me-"We need to run to the store b/c we are out of milk and have nothing for breakfast." Clive-"I've got an idea! We have Cheerios!" Me-"Yeah, but we don't have any milk." Clive-"That's ok, I can just eat em' scrambled."
Me-"I'm sorry Clive, I'm just feeling nauseous b/c of the baby in my belly." Clive-"Well, if you eat you'll cover the baby up. Have you eaten yet?"
Clive- "Mom, do pigs squeal? If I squeeze them will they squeal?"
Clive, listening to the radio, said, "Did he just say cigarettes?" Me-"Yup." Clive- "We don't smoke cigarettes!" Me-"That right, and we don't drink alcohol or do drugs..." Clive- "What's alcohol?" Me- "It's a drink that's bad for your body, it's called beer sometimes." Clive- "Kinda like root beer?"
Clive- "Boys are gooder than girls b/c boys have big muscles"
Part of Clive's prayer today..."Please bless that we can move into our new house and that it doesn't crack."
Me- "Clive, please don't make a big mess in your room b/c someone is coming to look at the house." Clive-"I won't mom, I'm just making a little mess".
(Van in the other room) Clive-"I smell Van" Me-"What does Van smell like?" Clive-"He smells good...I can smell his cheeks!"
